The Trustees are seeking a successor for the Honorary Secretary, Robert Eggar, who will stand down in the first half of 2026.

Working to the Chair and Board of Trustees, the Honorary Secretary convenes and records two Trust Meetings each year (June and November in Devizes) and is closely involved in the governance of the Trust and its grant decision process. This rewarding and engaging role is at the heart of a well-established county charity and its connection with parishes, churches and chapels across Wiltshire, including Swindon.

Outside the two Trust meeting days, routine business is conducted from home by email. The Honorary Secretary must have internet access and be proficient with email and standard documents. A brief role description is here – Role Description

Saturday 6 September 2025 will mark the launch of the final 40-mile section of the family-friendly Athelstan Pilgrim Way.

This final section of the walking and cycling pilgrimage route includes 11 churches in the Braydon Brook and Upper Thames benefices, covering a wide area between Malmesbury and Cricklade. 

The Launch event will take place at St Sampson’s Church, Cricklade (SN6 6AT) at 2.30pm on Saturday 6 September, with a talk by the writer, environmentalist and broadcaster, Martin Palmer. Tickets for the event, priced £10.50 (children free) are available online from the Athelstan Pilgrim Way website (https://athelstanpilgrimway.org/) or in person from the Cricklade Town Council offices.
