St Nicholas, Bromham

St Nicholas, Bromham

This Grade 1 church is cruciform, mainly 13th-14th century, with a spire
originally constructed in 1510. The great glory of the church is the elaborate
Baynton chapel with its assemblage of tombs, brasses and decorated
ceiling panels. The chancel is of 1864 and has stained glass by Burne-Jones
and Morris.

St Mary the Virgin, Bishops Cannings

St Mary the Virgin, Bishops Cannings

A large Grade 1 cruciform church with a spire. It is almost entirely Early
English with some Norman and some Perpendicular work. The chancel is rib-vaulted
and there is a nave roof of 1670. The east window is by Wailes.

St John the Baptist, Devizes

This is a major Grade 1 Norman church although the exterior apart from the
tower is mainly Perpendicular. There is good Norman rib vaulting in the
chancel and an elaborate Beauchamp chapel of 1492 enclosing a set of
Norman corbels. The stained glass windows are mainly Victorian.

Opening arrangements: Winter (Oct to Easter) Saturday 1030-1230 and 1400-1600 hours; Summer (Easter to October) Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings and afternoons

St Andrew, Etchilhampton

St Andrew, Etchilhampton

The nave is 14th century but much Victorianised. There is a Norman font,
14th century effigies and a Millennium window by Simon Whistler.

St Michael and All Angels, Urchfont

St Michael and All Angels, Urchfont

This mainly Decorated Grade 1 church stands beyond the village
pond by a handsome farmhouse. The tower is Perpendicular. The chancel
has an impressive rib-vaulted stone ceiling. There is a 13th century font.
