Holy Trinity, Oare

Holy Trinity, Oare

The church is set back from the road amongst trees. It is a red brick neo-
Romanesque building by Teulon of 1857-8. There is a compact apse and
much polychromy.

All Saints, Alton Priors

All Saints, Alton Priors

The church is in the ownership of the Churches Conservation Trust. It is set in
a hedged churchyard surrounded by meadows. The church has a Norman
chancel arch and 18th century woodwork.

St Mary the Virgin, Alton Barnes

St Mary the Virgin, Alton Barnes

This Grade 1 church is to be found in a farmyard setting. The nave walls
contain Saxon stonework. The chancel was built in brick in 1748. It has a
three decker pulpit and modern glass by Laurence and Simon Whistler.
Augustus Hare was rector here.

All Saints, Marden

All Saints, Marden

The church is placed on a small rise. The tall west tower is Perpendicular.
The south doorway and the chancel arch are lavish Norman work. The church
was otherwise rebuilt by Ponting in 1885. There is a Jacobean pulpit.

Holy Cross, Seend

Holy Cross, Seend

Another Grade 1 church, it was primarily built by John Stokys whose
brass and that of his wife of 1498 are to be found in the north aisle. Canon
Thynne rebuilt the chancel in 1875. There are many 18th century wall tablets
in the church, and a Millennium window by Andrew Taylor depicting
village history and scenes.
