A few unlucky people got caught in a brief but heavy downpour, but for most September 9 2017 provided a very pleasant day of riding and striding.
It is too early yet to know whether we have matched last year’s total of £53,000 raised, but many regulars and a few newcomers turned out and achieved much in support of Wiltshire’s churches.
How many steps?
Hilary Bird took 14,557 steps in her walk round the churches of Salisbury.
Two ladies from Melksham Baptist Church took no steps at all as they toured round the town’s churches.
Am I too old? Too young?
Jane Graham from Shalbourne cycled to 16 churches. Age? 79
Ray Samways from Laverstock walked to 15 churches. Age? 86
William and Robert Wallace, aged 6, cycled with their parents to 13 churches.
How much money can I raise?
Every penny counts, to coin a phrase,
but if you are Sara Willan and Marilyn Carter from Compton Chamberlayne,
you aim for £1, 500 – and achieve it.
What do I do when visiting a church?
Enjoy the cake (thank you, Urchfont!).
Shelter from the shower (thank you, Chirton!).
If you are Richard Aylen from Derry Hill, play a tune on your melodeon.
